PRESS RELEASE
Rio - March 23 2026

UTS Tour set to make South American debut in Rio

The UTS Tour will make its debut in South America this coming July with a brand new event at Rio’s 11,000-seater Maracanazinho stadium.

This new UTS Rio event will take place on an indoor hardcourt over July 16, 17 and 18, with an eight-man line-up that will be confirmed in the coming weeks. It will mark the second stage of the 2026 UTS Tour following next month’s Bastide UTS Nîmes, which will be held at the historic Arènes de Nîmes in France on April 3 and 4.

Casper Ruud, Karen Kachnanov, Andrey Rublev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Bublik and Ugo Humbert are set to compete in the 2000-year-old amphitheater for a total prizemoney purse of $1 million USD.

The UTS Tour, founded in 2020 by globally respected tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, has grown into a highly successful elite global tennis league featuring a succession of the world’s best male players and with events in some of the world’s most exciting cities.
UTS has brought its innovative, fast-moving tennis format to events in London, Los Angeles, New York, Guadalajara, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Oslo, Nîmes and now Rio, a city with a rich sporting pedigree having hosted the 2016 Olympic Games and the 2014 Fifa World Cup.

The UTS format is designed to deliver fan-friendly tennis at a fast pace and with maximum excitement, entertainment and crowd interaction. Players compete over eight-minute quarters, which can be decided by sudden death points, and only get one serve. They can also use bonus cards to up the stakes.

UTS Tour events offer generous prize-money to ensure that every point counts and a DJ, MC and lightshow add to the atmosphere. Fans even get to hear from players at the end of every quarter so that they always feel part of all the action.

UTS Grand Final London

MEDIA RELEASE
London - Sunday 8 December

De Minaur crowned 2024 UTS Champion

Alex de Minaur was crowned UTS 2024 champion after a comprehensive 3-0 (13/8, 14/11, 16/10) win over Holger Rune in a sold-out Grand Final of UTS London at the Copper Box Arena, earning himself £625,241 ($US 796,800) in prize-money.

Australian de Minaur was described earlier this week as an honorary Londoner and shares a home in South West London with Britain’s No.1 tennis female player Katie Boulter. He succeeded Great Britain’s Jack Draper as UTS champion.

“I couldn’t have had more support here and you’ve really made me feel at home,” de Minaur told the crowd after the victory. “London is like a second home to me. I’ve enjoyed it so much. It was the perfect weekend here. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I played some great tennis. Every match was tough, was physical and I came out on top, so I’m extremely happy with my performance.”

De Minaur was full of praise for the atmosphere in the Copper Box Arena over the three days of UTS competition. “The crowd was great. It was electric. There was a bit of everything and as a player that’s all you can ever ask for. It felt great to be competing in this atmosphere.”

UTS, which was conceived by renowned tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, is designed to be faster, noisier and more family-friendly than traditional tennis events. Music, lights, fan interaction and mid-match interviews bring sport and entertainment together.

Sunday was a busy day for de Minaur, who also beat Rune in the Group Stage of the event. He ended the hopes of entertaining Frenchman Gael Monfils 3-1 (10/14, 14/11, 15/8, 14/6) in Sunday’s first semi-final. Rune knocked out another Frenchman Ugo Humbert with a 3-0 (15/11, 13/12, 15/11) in the second semi-final.

“I think the court really works for me. I enjoy playing this format,” said Rune. “I think this makes it super entertaining for the crowd and for tennis fans as well, and for us players it’s cool to play because there’s so many fun elements.”

It has been a hugely successful return to London for UTS, with Saturday and Sunday’s sessions all sold out and matches shown live on Tennis Channel, Discovery+ and Sunday’s play shown free-to-air on ITVX.

2025 promises a big year for the growing UTS Tour, with events scheduled in Guadalajara, Mexico (14-16 February) and Nîmes, France (4-5 April) and more events likely to be added in locations around the world, including a potential return to London for the Grand Final.
